Roads Fail From Underneath

A road never fails from the top down. It fails from underneath, and by the time you can see it, the fix is expensive.

We got called out to a subdivision south of Republic Road a few years back where the street was maybe six years old and already alligatored across both lanes. The asphalt was fine. The base under it was soaked, because the road had been built slightly lower than the yards on either side and every rain ran straight into it. Repaving that surface would have bought about two seasons. We rebuilt the drainage and the base first, then paved it, and that street still looks good today.

We have clay that holds water, rock that shows up where you did not plan for it, and a freeze and thaw cycle every winter that finds any weakness in the base. New streets, rebuilt streets and everything in between. We handle the full build, from clearing and grading through base, paving and edges. If you manage an HOA or own a development, we can phase the work so residents keep access the whole time. We will also walk the road with you first and tell you plainly whether it needs a rebuild or just repair.

Grading, Base Work and Drainage

This is the part that decides whether your road lasts five years or twenty. We shape the ground so water runs off, cut ditches where they are needed, set culverts, and build the base in lifts that get compacted properly rather than dumped and rolled once. It is slower and it is the reason our roads hold up.

Heavy Duty Lots and Truck Access

Loaded trucks destroy pavement that was designed for cars. Equipment yards, shops, warehouses and grain sites all need a thicker section and a stronger base. We build for the weight that will actually be on it, not the cheapest section that gets through a bid.

Road Repair, Widening and Overlays

Not every road needs a rebuild. We patch failed areas, widen narrow drives, rebuild soft edges, and lay overlays when the base underneath is still sound. We check the base before recommending any of it, because an overlay over a wet base is money thrown away.

The parts you cannot see once we are done:

• Clearing, staking and grading to a plan that moves water off the road
• Culverts, ditches or drainage tile where the site needs it
• Soft spots dug out and rebuilt rather than covered up
• Base built and compacted in lifts, then checked before paving

• Edges built up so the pavement does not break away from the sides
