The Cheapest Thing You Will Ever Do to Your Asphalt

Sealcoating is the cheapest thing you will ever do to your asphalt, and the easiest thing to do badly.

We get called out to re seal driveways every year where somebody sprayed a coat over a dirty surface the season before. It looked great for about six weeks. Then it started lifting in sheets, because sealer does not stick to dust, oil or a wet crack. The homeowner paid twice. The second time was ours to fix.

Asphalt Pavers LLC is a family owned sealcoating contractor in Springfield, MO. We have been protecting pavement in the Ozarks for 18 years from our shop at 2133 S Florence Ave. Driveways in Rountree, Galloway and Southern Hills. Church and school lots around Battlefield Road. Retail and office lots along Glenstone, Sunshine and Republic Road.

Here is why this matters in Springfield specifically. Our summers bake the oils out of the top of the asphalt until it turns gray and brittle. Then winter arrives and every small crack fills with water, freezes, and gets pried a little wider. Repeat that cycle a few years with no seal on top and you stop needing sealcoating and start needing paving.

Most driveways here want a fresh coat every two to three years. Busy commercial lots often want it sooner.

Driveway Sealcoating

Most residential driveways are a one visit job. We clean the surface, treat oil spots so the sealer will bond, fill the cracks, then apply commercial grade sealer and cut clean edges along your garage, walks and grass. You stay off it overnight and park on it the next day in most weather.

Commercial Lot Sealcoating

Retail, office, church and apartment lots across the metro. We stage the work in sections so you never lose the whole lot, and we can run early mornings, evenings or weekends when a business cannot give up parking during the day. Restriping goes back down after the sealer cures, and we can update the layout or add ADA spaces while we are there.

Crack Filling Comes First

Sealer is a coating, not a filler. Any crack wider than a pencil gets cleaned out and filled with hot rubberized material before we seal, because that is where the water gets in. Skipping this step is the single most common reason a seal job fails early, and it is the step cheap bids leave out.

What Sealcoating Will Not Fix

Being straight with you saves you money. Sealcoating protects good asphalt. It does not repair a failing base, close an alligatored area, or fill a pothole. If your surface is cracked in a pattern that looks like scales, the damage is underneath and sealing over it just hides it for a season. We will tell you that on the estimate rather than after we cash the check.

The Prep That Makes Sealer Stick

What happens before any sealer comes off the truck:

  • Blow and sweep the surface clean, edge to edge
  • Scrub and prime oil and fuel spots so the coat can bond
  • Clean out and fill cracks with hot rubberized filler
  • Cut back grass and dirt that has crept over the edges
  • Apply commercial grade sealer at the right spread rate, usually two coats
  • Block the area and let it cure fully before traffic goes back on

Why Springfield Property Owners Call Us

Eighteen years of sealing the same driveways and lots means we know which surfaces are worth protecting and which ones are past it. That is knowledge you only get from going back to the same properties year after year.

We are family owned and local. The shop is on S Florence Ave in Springfield, and our second location at 1014 S Joplin Ave covers the Joplin area. You are talking to the crew, not a call center.

Urgent jobs get moved up, and sealcoating is seasonal work. Sealer needs warm, dry weather to cure, so the calendar fills up fast from late spring through early fall. Calling early gets you the date you want.

Every quote is in writing before we start, including whether we are putting down one coat or two. Fair pricing on this service means telling you exactly what you are getting, because two sealcoating bids can look identical and cover completely different work.
